Art Fairs
NEW ARTIST-LED MODELS FOR PRESENTING, EXPERIENCING AND COLLECTING ART
HERE AND NOW explores and collaborates with new approaches to the art fair, championing formats that bring artists, artworks and audiences into closer conversation.
Art fairs play an essential role in connecting art with new audiences and collectors. We are interested in what else the format can do.
By placing greater emphasis on the artist, the creative process and the experience of encountering work, we are interested in art fair models that complement the established marketplace while opening new possibilities for participation and engagement.
Our interest begins with a simple question: how can the art fair become an experience that gives audiences a deeper connection to the work, while creating meaningful opportunities for artists, galleries and collectors?
The first project being developed in collaboration with HERE AND NOW is MAKE IT / TAKE IT Art Fair, created and curated by Hyland Mather.

EXHIBITOR PROSPECTUS
MAKE IT / TAKE IT reimagines the traditional art fair booth as two connected spaces: a working artist studio and a focused presentation of available work.
On one side, MAKE IT gives the artist a functioning studio within the fair. This is not a demonstration or performance. The artist is there to work, allowing visitors an unusual opportunity to encounter the rhythms, materials, decisions and processes that normally remain behind the studio door.
On the other, TAKE IT creates a dedicated space for viewing, discussing and collecting the artist's work. A representative manages this side of the presentation, engaging with visitors and collectors while allowing the artist to remain focused on their practice.
Together, the two spaces create a different relationship between artist, artwork and audience. Visitors can encounter finished work alongside the environment and activity from which new work emerges, while artists and exhibitors gain a more dynamic platform for introducing a practice to collectors.
INTIMATE BY DESIGN
MAKE IT / TAKE IT is deliberately small.
Rather than filling a convention hall with hundreds of booths, each edition brings together a tightly selected group of artists and exhibitors whose practices are particularly suited to the format.
The smaller scale creates room for genuine discovery and conversation. Visitors can spend time with the work, return to studios throughout the fair and experience projects developing over several days.
For artists and exhibitors, it creates an environment where each presentation has presence and every participant contributes meaningfully to the identity of the fair.
PALM BEACH 2027
THE INAUGURAL EDITION
The inaugural edition of MAKE IT / TAKE IT Art Fair is currently being developed in partnership with HERE AND NOW Palm Beach 2027, taking place in Palm Beach, Florida, from January 27–31, 2027, coinciding with one of the region's most active weeks for contemporary art.
Palm Beach will introduce the MAKE IT / TAKE IT format through a tightly curated group of 8–10 participant spaces.
Each presentation will combine a working MAKE IT studio with a dedicated TAKE IT exhibition environment, bringing artistic process and collecting together within a single experience.
As the first edition, Palm Beach is the first expression of a new model. The goal is to create an intimate, distinctive and highly considered experience for artists, exhibitors, collectors and visitors, while establishing a format that can evolve through future editions.
EXHIBIT AT MAKE IT / TAKE IT
MAKE IT / TAKE IT welcomes proposals from galleries, artist-led projects and independent artists whose practices are well suited to the format.
Participation is selective. Applications are considered not only on the strength of the artist and proposed work, but also on how the practice engages with the unique MAKE IT / TAKE IT environment and contributes to the fair as a whole.
Applicants are invited to review the Exhibitor Prospectus before applying. The prospectus provides detailed information about the format, participant spaces, participation costs, logistics, what is included and the expectations of participating exhibitors.
